The Complete List of ingredients for
Cholesten-LDL:
Chitosan - Chitosan, a polymer of glucosamine,
demonstrates cholesterol-lowering action within the
liver, capable of reversing adverse changes provoked
by high cholesterol diets, including plasma
Cholesterol, increasing HDL--Cholesterol, liver
weight, and HMG-CoA reductase mRNA levels in animal
populations, proving to be effective maintaining the
required equilibrium between the elimination of
exogenous Cholesterol and de nova Cholesterol
synthesis. Total levels of Cholesterol and
Cholesterol ratios of LDL and HDL were lowered with
the use of Chitosan, as well as reducing total
triglycerides.
L-Carnitine - Carnitine, or L-Carnitine, as it is
found in nature, is an amino acid which is normally
synthesized in the liver from lysine and methionine.
Carnitine has a major role in transferring fatty
acids across the membrane of the energy burning
furnaces of the mitochondria of our cells. Without
carnitine, fats cannot be burned. Thus,
biochemically, carnitine is thought to be critically
important in fat metabolization, speeding fat
oxidation (fat-breakdown), allowing the body to
effectively and efficiently consume fat for long
term energy use. Carnitine is the most useful single
entity known, and indeed essential, in the
mobilizing of fatty tissue deposits, helping the
body in the natural removal of poisonous ketone
bodies left over from fat metabolism. Also thought
to be important in helping the body influence sperm
motility.Although not an essential amino acid as it
can be synthesized in the body, it is so important
in providing energy to muscles, including the heart
(in fact, the highest concentration of carnitine in
the body is found around the heart), researchers are
now recommending carnitine supplements in the diet,
particularly for people who do not consume much red
meat, the main food source for carnitine.
Interestingly, those having heart attacks were found
to be deficient in carnitine populations within the
pericardium around the heart. Muscles prefer to burn
fat for long term energy needs. If the heart, the
most important muscle in our body, does not have
sufficient supplies of carnitine, it cannot burn fat
for its continued metabolic activity. There is also
indication for carnitine supplements during periods
of exercise in helping the body nutritionally,
improving tolerance during aerobic activities.
Hawthorn - This plant is generally found throughout
Britain and Europe. C. monogyna contains one seed,
C. oxycanthoides contains two. The latter name is
derived from the Greek 'kratos' (hardness)
describing the wood, 'oxus' (sharp) describing the
thorns and 'akantha' (a thorn). The wood makes a
very good, hot fire and is also used for making
small articles. The German name for the plant,
Hagedorn, means Hedgethorn and shows that plots of
land were divided by hedges made up of Hawthorn very
early on.Hawthorn has been shown to be an effective
herb for the following symptomology: cardiac
insufficiency NYHA I and II, breathing difficulties,
increased heart and pulse rate, pains in the chest
(stabbing), weak heart, palpitation, arrhythmia. It
pharmaceutical action is defined by the content of
oligomeric procyanidins and/or flavonoids:
macerates, fresh plant extract) and with individual
fractions (oligomeric procyanidins, biogenic
amines). The flavonoids of Hawthorn exhibit very
strong "vitamin P" activity, (increasing
intracellular vitamin C levels and while decreasing
capillary permeability and fragility. Hawthorn
extracts also improve energy production within the
heart, increasing oxygen and blood while enhancing
heart metabolism, the net result being an increase
in the force of contraction, improving the
efficiency of the heart as a "pump." This is
particularly beneficial in cases of congestive heart
failure and various rhythm disturbances. The berries
and flowers of Hawthorn are effective in reducing
blood pressure (by dilating the larger blood
vessels, the procyanidins in Hawthorn inhibit
angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) which converts
angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent
constrictor of blood vessels - preventing this
conversion leads to more relaxed blood vessels and
lower blood pressure) and reducing angina attacks,
as well as in lowering serum cholesterol levels.
Scientists have determined that Hawthorn extracts
can also help prevent atherosclerosis (hardening of
the arteries) by reducing cholesterol levels and
decreasing the size of atherosclerotic plaques.
Moreover, research indicates that the flavonoids in
Hawthorn strengthen connective tissue structures in
artery walls. The effects of Hawthorn
supplementation is generally apparent within two
weeks, even earlier with products, such as in V„xa's
cardiovascular line, which combine Hawthorn
standardized extract with other ingredients which
are known to enhance the effectiveness of Hawthorn
and its activity. In general, the phytomedicinal
ingredients within Hawthorn yield positive inotropic
effect, positive dromotropic effect, negative
bathmotropic effect, increased coronary and
myocardial circulatory perfusion, reduction in
peripheral vascular resistance.
Allium Sativum - Studies reveal that garlic (it was
later discovered that the compound Allicin that was
largely responsible) is antibacterial, first noted
in a study by Louis Pasteur in 1858, and Allicin is
the substance in garlic which is responsible for the
typical order. But there are dozens of compounds now
known to be naturally inherent in garlic and some of
which have certain medicinal value, including 33
sulfur compounds, 17 amino acids, germanium,
calcium, copper, iron, potassium, magnesium,
selenium, zinc, and vitamins A, B1 and C. Over the
past 20 years, over 1,000 scientific publications
have reported that garlic has demonstrated
antibacterial, antifungal, antitumor, hypoglycemic,
hypolipidemic and anti-atherosclerotic activities in
both animals and humans. Garlic, when aged and
powdered, can inhibit breast tumors in animals.
Garlic contains 2 known anti-cancer compounds,
selenium and germanium. Garlic has proven capable of
reducing cholesterol and triglyceride levels even on
unrestricted diets, while increasing HDL cholesterol
(the good cholesterol) levels, and aids in the
regulation of blood sugar levels. Garlic is thought
effective in reducing blood pressure as well. Ajoene,
a compound isolated from garlic in 1984, was found
to demonstrate anti-thrombotic activity (preventing
blood platelet aggregation or clotting of blood) or
blood thinning activity, apparently by inhibiting
exposure of fibrinogen receptors on platelet
membranes. It was determined that ajoene is at least
as potent as aspirin in this regard, and thus garlic
appears to have some utility and value as a
protective agent in atherosclerosis, coronary
thrombosis and stroke. Garlic was also effective in
increasing the natural killer-cell activity in AIDS
patients, as well as improving other AIDS-related
conditions including diarrhea, genital herpes,
candidiasis and pansinusitis with recurrent fever.
L-Glycine - This is an amino acid known to be the
simplest molecular amino known, essential for the
natural production of bile acids and nucleic acids.
This is an important amino acid which is part of the
tripeptide glutathione, a detoxifying agent
essential for good health. Glycine is known to be a
hypolipidemic agent (it acts to reduce lipid
synthesis) and aids in the further reduction of
cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood
plasma.L-Glycine also acts like taurine in its
natural calming properties. It is a major inhibitory
neurotransmitter of the brain, readily and easily
passing the brain-blood barrier, working in
conjunction with GABA and Taurine as a natural
anticonvulsant. Interestingly, depressed and
epileptic patients often have low glycine levels in
their plasma.Glycine is essentially important, too,
in the photochemical reaction of the eye and is
necessary for good vision. It is an important
nutrient in wound healing, giving the skin its
natural elasticity and bounce, protecting us from
premature sagging and wilt, being a necessary
constituent of collagen. In fact, glycine in the
form of gelatin, a protein which is made up of 33%
glycine, has been found to be useful in wound
healing.
Scutellaria Laterifolia - This is a hardy perennial
reaching upwards to 3 feet tall and the whole plant
has been found useful for those experiencing
depression, sadness, unhappiness, uncommon heaviness
and grief (Scullcap contains minute amounts of
Melatonin [0.09ug/g], its sister plant, Huang-qin,
contains significantly more, [7.11ug/g]), providing
a safe and soothing "tonic" for some while relieving
stress and an overly sensitized "sensorium" in
others. Various Japanese scientists have found that
this herb has also been shown to help reduce various
excessive circulatory fats from the body as reported
in Chemical & Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 29:2308;
32:2724) while possibly encouraging the body
nutritively to produce low-density lipoproteins
("good" cholesterol) instead.
Tocotrienol Complex -
Shiitake Mushroom Extract - Shiitake mushrooms are
not only good to eat, as the Japanese have known for
centuries, but they show significant medicinal value
as well. Shiitake has demonstrated some cholesterol
lowering abilities in Japanese studies, effectively
lowering VLDL and LDL cholesterol levels, and
apparently have a lipid/fat absorbing effect in the
gastrointestinal tract as well, selectively reducing
and/or preventing fat assimilation as an added
advantage. Shiitake has also demonstrated
effectiveness against tumor formation (antitumor) as
well as presenting immunostimulating activities. The
primary structure or phytomedicinal in Shiitake is a
neutral polysaccharide called Beta-1,3-D-Glucan, a
substance also found within the cell walls of
baker's yeast, although in less concentration. This
substance enhances the effects of many antibiotic
and cholesterol lowering drugs without any known
side effects. It has very special effects on the
Immune System by fully activating the macrophage,
the dramatic immune cell which attacks, engulfs and
ultimately destroys intruders to the body.
Beta-1,3-D-Glucan literally acts to switch "ON" the
macrophage, which in turn activates the entire
immune system response strategy, increasing the
production of T-Cells, from the Thymus, increases
production of B-cells from the bone marrow,
resultant production of tumor necrosis factor and
the further production of potent immune system
messengers, including Interleukin-1, Interkeukin-2,
Interleukin-6, Interferon, G-CSF, GM-CSF, VEGF.
Reishi Mushroom Extract - Found to be an adaptogen,
new research demonstrates the reishi mushroom is
effective against chronic fatigue syndrome,
restoring vitality and supports adrenal function.
Reishi also contains phytomedicinals demonstrated to
lower blood glucose levels in diabetics (B.K. Kim,
College of Pharmacy, Seoul National University,
Korea). It has also demonstrated help in
regenerating the liver, and protects the liver
against chemical damage while improving conditions
of viral hepatitis. Reishi also has demonstrated
effectiveness in lowering cholesterol and
triglycerides, reduces coronary symptoms and high
blood pressure. Lately, Japanese research indicates
that it protects against cancer, being a powerful
immune stimulating agent with particular
effectiveness against wasting and degenerative
diseases such as AIDS. As an adaptogen, it also has
proven effective in reversing some of the side
effects of chemotherapy, helping the body and
especially the lymphatic system rid itself of
poisonous toxins. Clinical studies have recently
demonstrated that Reishi stimulates T-cell activity
and inhibit some replication of the HIV virus.
Reishi also seems to act as an antihistamine,
relieving the allergic response, and is
antiinflammatory in nature.
Commiphora Mukul - This tree grows in the Levant,
Somalia, and throughout India. Myrrh is a granular
secretion (a resin) which is discharged into
cavities in the bark when it is wounded. The pale
yellow exudate hardens to a red-brown mass about the
size of a walnut. It has been used since before
biblical times in incense, perfumes, in the holy oil
of Jewish ceremonies, and by the Egyptians as an
element of 'kypji', for embalming. 'Meetiga' was the
trade name for Arabian Myrrh, which is more brittle
and gummy than Somalia Myrrh, without the latter's
white markings.Generally used for topical treatment
of mild inflammations of the oral and pharyngeal
mucosa. Recent research indicates that the internal
use of this resin has been found to lower total
blood cholesterol ranging from 22-27%, regardless of
whether or not the patient changes their diet. It
acts to bring down LDL and the VLDL components which
clog the arteries, while raising the beneficial HDL
level at the same time. Gum guggul has also been
shown to reduce triglyceride levels according the
Indian Journal of Medical Research, April, 1988.
Ayurvedic medicine has successfully used the resin
for over 2500 years as a treatment for what is now
known as atherosclerosis (hardening of the
arteries). Also of some interest is that Gum guggul
constituents has been identified as a mild thyroid
stimulant which promotes enzymatic activity and
improves the thyroid's ability to absorb iodine.
Interestingly, poor thyroid and high cholesterol
levels are generally correlated. Gum guggul thus can
safely increase the body's metabolism via thyroid
stimulation, which in turn, generally results in
weight loss at the healthy rate of no more than 1
pound per week.
Mixed Phytosterols -
Pectin - Pectin consists largely of long chains of
galacturonic acid units and is largely responsible
for the jelling of fruits. Perhaps of interest to
myself alone is the fact that Pectin was actually
discovered by my Great Uncle Billy Young, who I'm
told was a rather eccentric chemist. When not in the
laboratory inventing things, Great Uncle Billy would
spend most of his life treasure-hunting around the
world! (You can trust that this behavior is not in
the least catching!) On a more practical side,
Pectin has been thought useful in colon cleansing
formulations as well because the natural gelatinous
substance is a fine lubricant, and an expander as
well.
Choline Bitartrate - A trimethyl amino ethanol,
Mol.Wt. 121, which occurs in biological tissues in
the free form and as a component of certain
phospholipids such as lecithins, plasmogens and
sphingomyelins, important in the genesis and
regeneration of neurological tissues. It displays a
synergistic entity with the B vitamins in fat
metabolism, cellular communication and is an
essential precursor and component to acetylcholine,
the major memory molecule of the brain, and key
activator of nervous tissue throughout the central
nervous system. Choline also acts as important
source of labile methyl groups (-CH3). Although it
can be synthesized by the body, it is yet certain
whether the body can make all that it needs. It is
generally found in most foods including egg yolks,
whole grains, beef liver, legumes.
Chondroitin Sulfate - These are polysaccharides
containing D-glucuronic acid and acetyl
galactosamine. Their general structure is similar,
but they differ in content and location of sulfate
ester groups in the molecule. Chondroitin contains
only a small number of sulfate ester groups whereas
chondroitin sulfates have more. The latter have a
high viscosity and a capability for binding water,
and in connective tissue apparently performs
similarly to that of hyaluronic acid (a
glycosaminoglycan/mucopolysaccharide which is
component of the ground substance of intercellular
material, containing D-glucuronic acid and acetyl
glucosamine). Chondroitin is a component of the cell
coat, and chondroitin 4-sulfate is the principle
organic component of the ground substance of
cartilage and bone. If the chondroitins are not
found abundantly, regeneration and healing of
tissues is possibly undermined and delayed. Thus,
its has proven nutritionally supportive and useful
in any form of bone and cartilage reconstructive
needs, such as arthritis, and complements other pre-
and postsurgical strategies.
L-Taurine - Taurine, commonly found in its "L-"
form, L-Taurine, is an amino acid which serves as an
inhibitatory neurotransmitter in the brain, acting
much like the amino acid GABA. Because of these
properties, it is thought to naturally possess
properties which would reduce nerve instability and
misfiring.Taurine is generally found in areas of the
body which normally experience high electrochemical
activity, such as the eye, brain and heart. Its most
important function is to stabilize nerve cell
membranes which are constantly receiving and
transmitting neuro-signals. In part, taurine's
nutritional properties prevent neurons from becoming
unstable and misfiring erratically or too rapidly,
which is generally what happens in situations of
seizure and in some cases of epilepsy. As a nutrient,
it has also been found useful in soothing the
uncontrolled agitation and reactive misfiring of
neurons, resembling seizures or seizure-like
activities, although their significance for severe
neurological dysfunction is unknown. It is thought
to nutritionally aid in the health and motility of
sperm as well, as has been shown experimentally.
Alpha-Lipoic Acid (Thioctic Acid) -
DMG - A necessary and critical enzyme which is part
of the choline oxidase system, necessary in food
digestion and fat metabolism. Closely related to TMG,
DMG (or dimethylglycine) has only 2 methyl donors
(-CH3) whereas TMG has three. The body can easily
convert TMG into DMG, which it usually does, by
giving up one of its three methyl groups, which
generally happens as TMG converts homocysteine to
methionine, leaving DMG as a residue. DMG is also
capable of reducing homocysteine to methionine, as
well as reducing lactic acid buildup which allows
more stamina for athletes. Lately DMG has been found
useful in lowering cholesterol levels by stimulating
oxidative enzymatic activities while directly
inhibiting cholesterol and triglyceride synthesis in
the liver, while also prolonging the breakdown of
choline, yet another lipid oxidizing agent.
ChromeMate GTF - This is a very important mineral
which works with vitamin B3 (niacinamide) in
maintaining blood sugar levels. It is a true Glucose
Tolerance Factor and has recently been given a US
Patent because of this singular nutritional
importance, plus two more because of its ability to
lower cholesterol.Only one such Chromium product
actually satisfies all of Dr. Mertz's laws to be
established as a true GTF, and ChromeMate is that
Chromium source. In such form, chromium is known to
activate enzymes for carbohydrates, fat, and protein
metabolism. Chromium is also thought to aid the body
in improving its circulation for healthy skin and
hair.
Aurum metallicum - Used as a Homeopathic or used
simply as a micro-nutritional (metal). (Homeopathic
potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to
the electromagnetic signatures of the original
substrate; these are scientifically created
dilutions and succussions of medicines such that
generally not even a molecule of the original
substrate or medicine is present in the medicine).

substrate or medicine is present in the medicine).
As a Homeopathic or used simply as a
micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness
against the following symptomology: "This drug
produces lesions of arteriosclerosis of the large
blood-vessels and aorta...it would be difficult to
find a drug having closer resemblance to the
phenomena of arteriosclerosis than Baryta muriaticum...it
should not be forgotten in aortitis and especially
aortic aneurism: here it is our mainstay." (Dewey)This
Homeopathic medicine also has demonstrated
effectiveness against the following symptomology:
diminution of sexual desire and weakness of genital
functions; -relaxed penis with premature emissions;
-falling asleep during coition without the emission
having taken place; -hypertrophied prostate;
-erections only in the morning before rising (Clarke).Especially
useful in certain Homeopathic potencies for
hypertension and vascular degeneration; -increased

(botanical). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their
strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic
signatures of the original substrate; these are
scientifically created dilutions and succussions of
medicines such that generally not even a molecule of
the original substrate or medicine is present in the
medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a
micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness

the entire organism but its intensive operation is
on the heart and circulation...it will benefit a
large number of cases of weakened and painful
heart...sharp pains in diaphragm and girdle pain
around its attachments...constrictive sensations as
if an iron band prevented heart's normal movements,
or as if heart were compressed
violently...indigestion with these
symptoms...specially indicated where heart is weak
and arteries atheromatous." (Clarke)As a Homeopathic
or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has
demonstrated effectiveness against the following
menopausal symptomology: "It is an important remedy
in diseases of women that occur at the time of the
menopause, the oppressive headaches that are
complained of with pressure on the top of the head,
also for the hot flashes that occur at this period.
The patient suffers from melancholia, nervousness,
irritability of temper, hypersensitiveness, fears
and fancies, and neuralgia with sharp shooting pains
and a sense of constriction, or pains that dart and
spring at any portion of the body, like chains of
lightning and end with a sharp, vice-like grip, only
to be renewed." (Blackwood).
Calcarea fluorica - Used as a Homeopathic or used
simply as a micro-nutritional (mineral).
(Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and
efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the
original substrate; these are scientifically created
dilutions and succussions of medicines such that
generally not even a molecule of the original
substrate or medicine is present in the medicine).

and varicose ulcers (Julian) -valvular disease (Boericke).
Cholesterinum - Used as a Homeopathic or used simply
as a micro-nutritional (sarcode derivative).
(Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and
efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the
original substrate; these are scientifically created
dilutions and succussions of medicines such that
generally not even a molecule of the original
substrate or medicine is present in the medicine).
As a Homeopathic or used simply as a
micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness
against the following symptomology: -"Indicated in
obstinate hepatic engorgements and various
imbalances of liver function." (Clarke) -intense
exaggeration of cardiac pulsations (Boericke) Note:
this sarcode derivative has a relationship of
etiopathic similarity to various systemic and
localized effects caused by imbalances in
cholesterol metabolism.
Digitalis purpurea - Used as a Homeopathic or used
simply as a micro-nutritional (botanical).
(Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and
efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the
original substrate; these are scientifically created
dilutions and succussions of medicines such that
generally not even a molecule of the original
substrate or medicine is present in the medicine).
As a Homeopathic or used simply as a
micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness
against the following symptomology: pulse is slow or
irregular, intermittent, least movement produces
violent palpitation; -feeling of exhaustion,
faintness, extreme prostration; -desire to take a
deep breath which partially relieves sensation of
suffocation; -useful when heart is dilated; in
cardiac asthenia, in conditions of "tired heart"
when action is irregular, pulse slow and feeble
venous system engorged, general lividity; -cardiac
dropsy, cannot lie down, obliged to sit up; -mitral
regurgitation, often aortic valve is involved (Blackwood). As
a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional,
it has demonstrated special effectiveness against
certain dysfunctions of the eye including the
following symptomology: "In glaucoma, when tension
and chromatopsia are more marked than neuralgia
pain, we have another candidate for honors here in
the shape of Digitalis...those under its influence
complained that their sight was dim and indistinct
or that the coloring of objects was altered or that
all things appeared as if covered with snow and face
assumed a corpse-like whiteness; motes floated
before the sight which on covering and pressing the
eyes appeared as sparks; then flashes and balls of
fire were seen and objects appeared brilliant with a
fiery halo around them. If use of the drug were
pushed blindness might occur...the sense of pressure
in the eyeballs which accompanied the initial
symptoms being exchanged for throbbing pain and
sense of fullness and enlargement...The suggestion
in all this of early glaucoma must be admitted to be
very strong and I think it ought to lead to
practical results." (Hughes)
Kali carbonica - Used as a Homeopathic or used
simply as a micro-nutritional (mineral preparation).
(Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and
efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the
original substrate; these are scientifically created
dilutions and succussions of medicines such that
generally not even a molecule of the original
substrate or medicine is present in the medicine).

3 or 4 g. per l., hyperglyceridemia, elevation of
total lipids, increase of beta-lipoproteins and of
pre-beta lipoproteins using a lipidprofile, GTT
curve plainly prediabetic Kali carbonica is one of
the remedies for hypercholesterolemia." (Tetau)
